Community-led education all the way!
Thank you to Minister Giles and Matt Smith MP for visiting the Cairns classroom on 4th August 2026.
Since 2013, First Nations organisation, Literacy for Life Foundation, has helped almost 1,000 adult students return to education and created over 100 local First Nations jobs to lead the learning.
It’s fantastic to have Australian Government funding for our work in QLD and for two communities in NSW.
Literacy for Life Foundation is an Aboriginal organisation that coordinates community-led adult literacy training. The Foundation’s results are at least 30 times better than comparable programs. We rely on donations from the community as well as funding from governments. The Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) First Nations Program is funded by the Australian Government Department of Employment and Workplace Relations.
